Social Evening, St. Catherine's, November 3rd
This year there was a theme of 'Stars of Stage and Screen' with fancy dress optional, this gave us a sprinkle of stardust from Clint Eastwood to Audrey Hepburn. Entertainment was provided by Didsbury's own big band 'Swingin' Affair', the 'Didsbury Flappers', Diana Holt was 'Shirley Bassey', songs from the shows with 'Izzy and Friends' plus Colin Appleby. All this and a hot pot supper too! Nearly 100 guests enjoyed a great evening.
On June 16th Steve Little a well known local historian and industrial archeologist gave a talk on the 'Shaping of Didsbury'- with the stress on the people who shaped it. A buffet and drinks were provided which gave members and non-members a good chance to mingle and socialise. Nearly 100 people attended the event at St James church and by popular demand Steve will reappear in Spring 2008.
On July 14th the Society organised a trip to Fountains Abbey, the weather was good ,for once, and a fine day out was had by all. We encourage non-members to come on these visits so they can discover for themseves just what a friendly Society we are.
